Charles Sandfer's Crew Chief Returns To Darlington
Charles Sandfer has had an up and down year, winning 3 of the first 14 Races, However after Round 14 at Indy where he won, his car was found highly illegal from SCS racing and the crew chief of the team was suspended for 10 races and driver Charles Sandfer was docked 42 points, basically losing every point he earned at Indy. Sandfer would be in the title fight this year if it wasn't because of that. However, it has finally be 10 races for the crew chief and his suspension will be up, Sandfer's crew chief plans on returning to Darlington in hopes of bringing the team up higher in points and ultimately get Sandfer inside the Top 10 in points and they are not losing hope at the championship they have said.
Sandfer has 3 wins this season all coming before the suspension at Indy. The suspension and points penalty laid on the team and driver caused Sandfer to drop from 8th to 28th in the points standings at the time and ultimately way out of title contention. Many had thought Sandfer would still get himself back up in the title fight however, Sandfer in the last 10 races has only had 3 Top 10 finishes since then. Only 3 Top 10s in the last 10 races. Keep an eye out on Sandfer at Darlington in hopes of going back to victory lane with the same crew chief that once brought success to the Yamp #8 Team.
Charles Sandfer sits 15th in points, 137 points behind Jake Baskinger in the title hunt realistically out of the title fight but with some good runs, figuratively Sandfer is not out just yet but I doubt it. With us having the Top 10 in points at the end of the season going to the Championship Banquet in DC, Sandfer and Team #8 has a goal set to have Sandfer inside the Top 10 after Washington DC...He currently is only 25 points behind Chris Louivere his teammate who is 10th in the standings.
